Event Info

Pirates make their way to the Loutit District Library (LDL) for the 13th Annual Michigan Pirate Festival invasion of Grand Haven, August 5-10, 2019.

Weekday Activities
All events held at Loutit District Library unless noted otherwise.

Monday, August 5th:

10:00am Festival Launch
Loutit District Library’s Youth Wing
Join the crew as we crack open the treasure chest revealing a trove of maps and partake in a treasure hunt throughout the town!

10:30am Pirate Storytime
Loutit District Library’s Youth Program Room
Use yer ears ta listen ta a pirate tell a tale or two whilst makin’ pirate themed crafts with yer hands and eyes.
For ages 4-10.

12pm Meet Up and Eat Up
Central Park, Across from the Library
Meet Up and Eat Up with the pirates at Central Park.
For all ages.

2pm Belly Dance Class and Show with Binat Al Raq's
Loutit District Library’s Upper Level Lobby
Come learn the pirates’ favorite belly-dance moves and enjoy a short show.
For ages 4 - 12.

Tuesday, August 6th:

11am Powder Monkey Olympics
Loutit District Library, Program Room A
Join the Pirates and train to be an honorary powder monkey!
For ages 4 - 12.

2pm Pirate Puppet Show
Loutit District Library, Program Room A
Watch the puppet pirates perform their silly story in the Pirate Theater. For all ages.

7pm Music in the Park
Central Park, Across from the Library
Bring your lawn chairs and meet the pirates at WGHN’s Tuesday Music in the Park in Central Park where the Barley Saints will be performing.

Wednesday, August 7th:

11am Pirate Farmers Market Storytime
Grand Haven Farmers Market at Chinook Pier, 301 N. Harbor Drive
Pirates visit the Farmers Market for a special piratical storytime. For all ages.

1pm Pillaging with Pirates
Loutit District Library, Program Room A
Come test your worth with a sword as the Pirates defend their treasure!!
For ages 4 - 12.

4pm Pirates Auction
West Michigan Pawn, 228 Washington Ave

Thursday, August 8th:

10am Dress Like a Pirate and Costume Contest
Loutit District Library, Upper Level Lobby
Come dressed in your best pirate swag for a piratical costume contest. Awards will be given out during the contest.

1pm Pirate Puppet Show
Loutit District Library, Youth Program Room
Watch the puppet pirates perform their silly story in the Pirate Theater.For all ages.

7pm Celtic Pirate Grace O’Malley’s Family Fun Night
Chinook Pier. 301 N. Harbor Drive
Enjoy a night of music featuring Uneven Ground with Chinook Pier’s Mauve the Mermaid, face painting, kids activities, and so much more!

Friday, August 9th:

2pm to 4pm Rum Tasting
Fortinos, 114 Washington Ave
Age 21 and over only

3pm - 6pm Walk the Plank in Centertown
Centertown
Grab your crew and take them to Centertown where various shops will have plenty of piratical fun!

6pm Sea Dawgs Costume Contest
Must Love Dogs, 211 Washington Ave.
Dress your dog up in their best pirate and pirate related finery and bring home a booty of a $20 Must Love Dogs Gift Certificate. Bonus points for creativity and originality! Pirates will be here to judge contest, so take photos and have a great time!

Saturday, August 10th:

10am Pirate Storytime
The Bookman, 715 Washington Ave.
Gather ‘round and enjoy a pirate storytime with a craft to follow with Principal of Peach Plains Elementary, Kate Drake.
